Monarch Systems Mobile Hospital
MONARCH SYSTEMS is raising the bar on mobile healthcare around the world-- growing beyond the simple flexibility offered in current mobile solutions and giving serious consideration to the healing environment and its patients. We feel strongly that the sustainability and success of such global efforts resides in the level of treatment received in tandem with the quality of the environment where treatment occurs. At MONARCH SYSTEMS, we believe that long-lasting value depends on bringing these two elements to the communities served, delivering healthcare on a higher level, hand-in-hand with a healing, therapeutic guest experience equivalent to the best hospitals in the world.
MONARCH SYSTEMS is Hord Coplan Macht and Spevco, uniting in a joint effort, bringing together the best resources in the industry to create a mobile alternative to premium healthcare. The end result is a comprehensive mobile healthcare solution: MObile Nomadic ARCHitecture.
MONARCH SYSTEMS is a mobile hospital initiative, designed to provide a fully-operational, fully mobile, 48-bed hospital. The design is made up of 58 units and includes quality and services in kinship with a typical stationary hospital.
MONARCH SYSTEMS is improving the quality of life, locally and around the world.

FHA Financing for Healthcare Facilities
Today's credit crisis has put traditional financing out of reach for many businesses. For a healthcare facility looking to borrow tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, it can be virtually impossible to obtain a conventional loan or secure credit enhancement for a fixed-rate bond financing. In light of this, many healthcare facilities are turning to a previously little-known, government-backed form of financing: FHA hospital mortgage insurance. Known to lenders as the FHA Section 242 program, FHA has supported the development of hundreds of communities across America by insuring 358 hospital mortgages totaling $13.5 billion since its inception.
This white paper discusses the FHA 242 program and its application through a case study of Western Maryland Health System's experience with one of the largest FHA hospital loans ever structured to consolidate two operating hospital campuses into one health care campus. The paper was co-written by Steve Pack, who has worked with more than 100 healthcare clients, securing more FHA Section 242 firm commitments and structuring more FHA insured bond financings for hospitals than any other healthcare finance professional, and Rolf Haarstad, AIA who served as Principal in charge of the design of the $268 million Western Maryland Health System Replacement Hospital. Both will be attending this year's ASHE PDC Conference in Phoenix over March 8 through the 11. If you want set up a meeting at the conference with Steve and Rolf, please contact John Lange at 410-837-7311 or jlange@hcm2.com.

Design Strategies for Transit Oriented Development
The trends toward Transit Oriented Development (TOD) have been gaining awareness as our cities become more concentrated. Transit Oriented Development is the creation of compact, walkable communities within proximity to high quality public transit.
This white paper provides information on this popular topic beginning with "What is TOD?" The paper was a collaborative effort by HCM's planning, mixed use and landscape architecture studios to better communicate this trend to our clients. This became a major focus of our recently published Housing Newsletter, with an article by Miguel Iraola, HCM's Director of Planning. Please contact Miguel directly at miraola@hcm2.com or John Lange in HCM's marketing group at jlange@hcm2.com for more information or to schedule a meeting.
