Salisbury Regional Park

Salisbury Park North, covering 90 acres of undeveloped land in the Town of Parker, Colorado, is located adjacent to the existing Salisbury Equestrian Park and Sports Complex and Cherry Creek. Once completed, it is set to become a comprehensive regional park, expanding to approximately 286 acres. HCM was selected to provide design services, from concept through construction, to implement a master plan finalized in 2014. As the master plan was nearly a decade old when the subsequent design phase began, HCM conducted an initial program verification during the concept design stage to confirm the relevance of the proposed program outlined in the 2014 plan. This phase led to the identification of necessary modifications, resulting in a dynamic park concept that addresses both active and passive recreational needs for the growing community.

The park’s amenities include four ballfields, two multi-use fields, sports courts featuring 19 pickleball courts and two tennis courts, a regional-scale inclusive play area, a bike park with bike skills course and various levels of pump tracks, restrooms, various sizes of pavilions, fitness area, pedestrian plazas, performance areas, flexible lawn spaces, parking, and trails. The design facilitates vehicular circulation around the park’s perimeter, with parking spaces distributed near the various amenities. This layout ensures a safe and inclusive environment for pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians.

Certain areas of the park fall within the floodway and 100-year floodplain of Cherry Creek, as well as the Riparian Conservation Zone. Careful design considerations were incorporated into the overall park plan to minimize impacts on the floodplain and to protect the Riparian Conservation Zone.
The park will be developed in phases, with Phase 1 including the ballfield complex, multi-use fields, playground, trails, roads, and parking.
